The Working it Out Together! project will see four Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Lajamanu (Katherine West Health Board), Mount Isa (Gidgee Healing), Northern Queensland and our own Northern Rivers region (Bullinah Aboriginal Medical Service) lead the development of health workforce models that are suited to their needs and context. This includes building pathways and growing the local Aboriginal health workforce and improving the cultural capability of the non-Indigenous health workforce to strengthen relational aspects of care and community trust in health services. Veronica co-leads the project with Prof Sarah Larkins from James Cook University. Emma and Marni Tuala from the Healthy North Coast as well as Cameron Johnson from the LHD and Payden Samuelsson from Bullinah are also on the investigator team. Kris and Talah round out the solid local representation on this five-year, multijurisdictional project.
